The SGT chapter at the University of Michigan is a primarily student-run organization, with board members putting in many hours each week to handle the day-to-day business operations, to plan events for members, and to make SGT better for future students.

President – Moksh Karira
Moksh is a senior studying Aerospace Engineering from Troy, MI. Outside SGT, he is involved with Michigan Formula Hybrid, AIAA Professional Development, and Michigan Future Problem Solving. He hopes to work in either space systems or automotive aerodynamic design. In his free time, he enjoys reading, watching movies, and traveling.
External Vice President – Brendan Lenhardt
Brendan is a senior studying aerospace engineering from Grand Rapids, MI. Outside of school and SGT, he enjoys running and swimming, and is also involved with the AIAA professional development committee. After graduation, he aspires to pursue airframe or jet engine design.
Internal Vice President – Jared Chin
Jared Chin is a junior in aerospace engineering from West Nyack, New York. When not doing homework, he is involved with MASA designing rockets and enjoys reading. His dream job involves working on space systems.
Treasurer – Alex Philpott
Alex Philpott is a senior studying Aerospace Engineering from Denver, CO. Alex joined SGT during the fall of 2018 and brings two years of experience as Treasurer for the Michigan Aeronautical Science Association (MASA). On MASA, Alex is co-lead of nozzle development for their liquid bi-propellant rocket. Outside of MASA, Alex is interested in guidance, navigation, and controls, as well as astrodynamics. Outside of school, Alex enjoys reading, cooking, and skiing.
Academic Chair – Adam Kelly
Adam is a junior from Ortonville, MI pursuing a major in Aerospace Engineering and a minor in Electrical Engineering. Apart from school and SGT, Adam enjoys golfing, baseball, soccer, and football. His dream job would be working on propulsion or controls for NASA.
Initiates Chair – Catherine Philpott
Catherine is a sophomore from Denver, Colorado studying Aerospace Engineering with a minor in Computer Science. Outside of SGT, she is the treasurer of the Women in Aeronautics and Astronautics and a peer mentor in Living Arts. Catherine would like to work on avionics or software design on rockets after she graduates.
Service Chair – Logan Bergeron
Logan Bergeron is a sophomore from Brighton, MI. He has always loved playing hockey and being outside and in the summer and likes to be back home on the lake enjoying the pontoon. Here at U of M, Logan is on M-Fly and takes any opportunity to take part in recreational and intramural sports.
Fundraising Chair – Collin Sageman
Collin is a senior studying Aerospace Engineering with a minor in Computer Science. He is from Rochester Hills, MI, and in his free time he enjoys playing soccer or reading in the Arb. At Michigan, he is involved with MASA, and he would love to work in a career expanding space travel such as with NASA or SpaceX.
Social Chair – Hogan Hsu
Hogan is a Sophmore from San Jose, CA studying Aerospace Engineering. Outside of SGT, he is involved in MASA’s structures and avionics teams, and is a member of the Michigan Club Gymnastics Team. He hopes to work in spacecraft systems or spacecraft structural design. In his free time, he enjoys hanging out with friends, watching TV, and playing sports.
Social Chair – Trena Datta
Trena is a sophomore from Troy, MI majoring in aerospace engineering and minoring in computer science. She has recently gotten involved with SGT and spends most of her weekends in the Wilson Center with Michigan’s Electric Racing team. Trena hopes to work on Lockheed Martin’s Orion spacecraft and eventually get her PhD to become a professor. Outside of school, Trena likes to watch stand-up comedy, play piano, and bake desserts.
Secretary – Alec Ash
Alec is a sophomore from Plainview, New York studying aerospace engineering and minoring in computer science and math. He can normally be found in either the FXB or at the IM playing pick up basketball. Outside of SGT, he is involved with Students Empowering Education (SEE), tutoring high school students for the SAT and ACT.
Web Team – Alex Kleb
Alex is a Sophomore from Yorktown, Virginia studying Aerospace Engineering with a minor in Computer Science. At Michigan he is involved with Michigan Vertical Takeoff and Landing and work as an SLC facilitator. In his free time he enjoys playing soccer, Smash Bros and windsurfing. He hopes to one day get a job in either the private or public sector working on space systems.
Web Team – John Coen
John is a senior studying Aerospace Engineering from Atlanta, Georgia. While at the University of Michigan, John has been involved in SGT since his Sophomore year and has been a member of the Michigan Hyperloop team. John has a passion for space and advanced development and his favorite pass time is watching the best team in sports – the Atlanta Falcons – win on Sundays. As much as John may enjoy football, his dream job is to be one of the first astronauts on Mars!
